hey mates,
I know there was an old thread with power-to-boot speeds, but some pc's take longer to post than others, so I want to know how long does it take your pc to boot from post? Please include your OS, and specs.

I will go first. 36secs from post-to-boot in windows vista ultimate 64x. Specs are in sig, except for hd, which is 500gb WD caviar green power drive.

nice, does windows 7 load faster than vista? sorry if that is a stupid question, but I just recently got vista, and do not know ONE person to run win 7 yet. I do see a lot of people on here with win 7.

Yep, Windows 7 does start up quicker than Vista. Windows 7 is still in beta, you'll find a lot of people on the forum have it installed because Microsoft gave away public beta licenses that are valid until August :)

Not sure about my boot time, all I care about is the fact that it's fully booted and 100% superfetched by the time I get back up stairs from breakfast.

29 seconds for Windows to load, and I'd estimate an extra 10 for the POST. Could get it down a bit if I turned off stuff like LogMeIn.

Vista Ultimate 64, Q6600 at 3.2, 4GB, Gigabyte DS3, WD Caviar Blue.

HD is the most important thing here. Need a good random access speed.

21 seconds from POST.
7 seconds from pressing the power button.

Samsung NC10 1.6GHz Atom, OCZ Vertex SSD, 2GB RAM, Windows XP.

Hope this helps.
