I plan to buy a 3TB harddrive, maybe 4TB, purely for backups. My idea is to schedule a backup to this network harddrive for 2-3 computers every day.
But the problem comes to implementing the idea!
Ideally I'd like a simple SATA to ethernet adaptor, the drive then appears to all networked computers to access without installing software (other than the backup software). But after researching, it seems you end up shelling out for an expensive enclosure with more features than I need.
I will probably be asked for a budget - to that my answer is the cheapest possible solution that supports 3TB+ NTS file systems.
Being more realistic, I'm going to put a cap of £100 for the enclosure. The harddrive I intend on buying separately.
One more thing. It'd be good if the drive powered itself down after a time of inactivity.
