Hello,

I am hoping for a bit of advice. I am looking at moving into 2010 development. (Currently doing 2007)
I was/am currently using VMs on my Mac, however this has only got 4Gb RAM.

Now trying to see if it is worth buying a server/beefy PC with 8-12 GB Ram and setup to run multiple VMS and maybe building a proper hosting environment. Dev, Staging and Live? Or Getting a slightly less powerful PC and sticking a VM on it with SharePoint 2010 and hosting externally.

Has anyone tried to do their own hosting? What kind of connection would I need? I can see you can get something like a 2mb line, but at close to 10k for the year seems a bit excessive.

Any help appreciated. I am sort of going into the unknown at the moment.

Saw yesterday that we had a visitor from the site - if you do want to get in touch about the server offerings just let us know - we can host Sharepoint no problem

Is this just for testing purposes? If so then look at a cheap HP tower server - ML110 G6 or something. No point in paying for an ongoing subscription for your own testing.

Good luck with 2010 dev. Some nice stuff with VS2010 too. Sandboxed solutions are the way forward!
