Can anyone recommend any good sites for Sharepoint 2013 resources?

Just tinkering with it at the moment to try and make some sort of functional intranet for my place of work and just wondering if there are any go-to sites for tutorials etc? Particularly things which are typical of intranets (staff directory, room booking calendars, leave requests etc)

As someone who regularly deals with cluster**** Sharepoint environments (usually long after they've been set up, badly), I would strongly recommend getting a Consultant / Reseller in to talk to you about what it does. They will help you structure the data you want in a useful way that won't totally hamstring you in the future. For instance, Sites vs. Site Collections, which one will you need to use? What's the workflow for inputting data for booking room calendars?

Sharepoint is a very powerful platform, and should not be considered a product in itself. There is a reason Sharepoint Administration is a full time profession, even in relatively small firms.

I don't really want to have to pay for a consultant at the moment. It's only going to be a very basic site, I understand it can be a bit of a behemoth but i'm not looking to do rafts and rafts with it. Hopefully I'll be able to get by teaching myself the basics as we go along!

I've got it set up at the moment with staff directory, important dates calendar, and a document repository for all important standard documents. Just trying to see how I can advance it on a bit by getting some room booking calendars up for staff to use, and also maybe looking at how the workflows work for booking holidays etc.

Thanks for those links though, will check them out.

SharePoint 2013 now works with the new Windows Azure Workflow Manager and is supposedly much better than what was available with 2010. You can install the manager on one of your servers, then create a binding between it and SharePoint. It's worth a look. I've deployed it for a number of customers already but haven't actually used it much.
