Hi there

Does anyone have links to guides on customising a SharePoint? I know you can create pages and use web parts in Front Page for instance.

I want to build upon the default SP look and brand it, and make it look snazzy (eg a nice front page with news etc) built upon the usual backend (with the file lists etc).

Any good websites?

(I won't have access to the SP Server, just the SP itself and I have admin rights within that SP. I am used to using PHP/MySQL, never really dabbled in ASP etc..)

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you'll need access to Sharepoint Administrator to change anything like this, but this can be accessed from any PC as long as you have the rights which it sounds like you do.

Its not easy fully customising sharepoint but we started with changing logos and images and adjusting pages to suit. In the end it became very similar to altering CMS systems like Jumla and Drupal et al.

I did a course on it a few months back and As far as I know you would probably have to edit all the themes in order to perform personalisation. There is a sharepoint configuration manager on the server but im not sure if it is needed to change themes. I would guess that you couldn't do it without access to the server though. I think the themes are similar to asp masterpages although this area wasn't covered on my course.

Thanks guys!

I can edit all the individual ASP pages around the web part placeholders, but this would entail a hell of a lot of work in editing a load of pages. The other way is to use a "frame" or includes, but it will still have the default style with the new style as a banner (would look naff)

I won't be abled to access the actual server, but I do have admin rights on the SP itself.

Hmm
