Shares files between laptop & pc using router

I want to be able to share files (large) between my laptop and pc using my router connection

I can ping my latop from pc and vice versa

This is only when i disable windows firewall though

Now i want to know how to transfer files between the two, can anyone help me out?
 
1. Select the folder you want to share in Windows Explorer.
2. Right click on it and select 'Sharing and Security'.
3. Click on 'Share this older' and OK.
4. Open Control Panel then Network Connections.
5. Right click on "Local Area Connection' and select Properties.
6. Make sure 'File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks' is ticked.
7. Open Control Panel and System.
8. Select the Computer Name tab and make sure the Workgroup name is the same on both PCs.
9. Open Control Panel then Windows Firewall.
10 .Select the Exceptions tab and 'File and Printer Sharing' is ticked.
11. Turn the firewall back on.
12. Make sure there is a user ID with the same password on both PCs and use this to log on to the other PC from steps 1 to 6.
13. Using Windows Explorer, open My Network Places then Entire Network and Microsoft Windows Network.
14. You should now see the workgroup from step 8. Open it and then the first computer.
15. This should now show you the folder that you shared in steps 1 to 3.
16. Copy the files from PC1 to PC2.

i disabled some services a while ago and its something to do with networking

It has left me unable to change the workgroup name and i also cant share folders "right click" "share" its greyed out

Can anyone help me?
I know formatting will work but i dont want to format until i need to :D (Which is in about 10 days or something because i am going 2 a lan party )
 
When i goto change the computers name where the workgroup name is greyed out it says

You must install networking before you can change this computers domain membership?

It says this on my laptop and pc?
*** should i do?
 
I managed to solve the problem.
The reason why both workgroup areas were greyed out was because i had disabled some services that had something to do with computer browser or something. I had also disabled that services dependencies which didnt help.

I also didnt have ms network client installed on my laptop which i installed so everything is now working fine.
