hey,

how would one go about buying shares in a website, such as google or facebook

Google is a Nasdaq listed company in the US, so you will need an online stock broker to purchase shares in them. I use http://www.hoodlessbrennan.com/ and they charge me a fee per transaction.

I believe that facebook is still in private hands, and therefore you can't purchase them. Although I know Microsoft bought a stake in them last year.

Wikipedia is not floated on the stock market.

it would seem like you have very little knowledge about shares etc. so my advice to you is stay away.

I agree, If you dont even bother to do research before investing in shares (not just research into the companys, by the sounds of it you should research the basics of stock markets too), you will most likely loose your money.
