Hello,

I have a windows 7 pro laptop and 2 windows vista home pre laptops.

I want to share a folder on the Win7 laptop so the other 2 can look at the pictures inside.

I have set the folder to sharing but i carnt get it to show up on the other to laptops in network.

All 3 laptops are on the sam workgroup.

Any ideas ?

Thanks Ben

I'm having the same problem but the other way round. The Vista laptop can see the shared folder in Windows 7 but can't see the Vista laptop.

Have all the machines got users with passwords? Are they the same username on each? If the folder you wnat to share on Win 7 is a public folder anyone should be able to see it.

I'm on w7 and have a seperate folder on a second drive that is shared throughout the house.

Is your network protected? Does anybody else have access at all?

If not, just turn off password protected sharing in Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings.

Next thing is to make sure the folder you want to share is allowing other people to access. Just set this to allow everyone to atleast read the folder contents.

If you do have an open network and you want to restrict access, I wouldn't be able to help any further I'm afraid. I would probably suggest a little google research should point you in the right direction if you don't hear from anybody else on here first?

Can each of the computers access the UNC path for the share using \\Computername\sharename ?

As Coxyis has said check in Network and Sharing Center, make sure Turn On Network Discovery is switched on, and if you're using different login credentials you may need to turn on public sharing within the network.

This is what I did, add the "Everyone" group in the folder sharing options. Although it still asks me for a username and password of the machine where the folder is located when I try to access the folder for the first time.

I think you also have to make sure they are all on the same work group as well.
