I have 2 PC (old - W10) and new (W11)
Both are connected to the same WiFi Router, both working fine to internet so WifFi & LAN working for both PC's

I want to share HDD on one PC to the other (to copy across data) ... no remote exection, just simply dra& drop files form W10 onto W11 PC
I enabled Network Discovery on both machines
I followed MS steps found on line :-

On W10 PC
Went to file explorer .. selected my E:\
Right click > give access to > advanced sharing
‘share this folder’ is ticked
Selected the E:\ and in permission selected everyone
Saved

On W11 PC
I went to C:\
Right click> Give Access to > Advanced Settings
‘share this folder’ is ticked
Selected the C:\ and in permissions selected everyone
Saved

However on W10 PC I can't see the W11 machine and vice versa
I must be missing something ?

If I look at sharing on either PC ... it shows that sharing is greyed it - so presumably not active.

You'll need to allow it through the firewall
  1. Allow File and Printer Sharing through Windows Firewall:
    • Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall.
    • Click on "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall."
    • Ensure that "File and Printer Sharing" is allowed for the relevant network profile (such as private or domain networks).

I have been to "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall."
but what one do I alter there are over a hundred items listed or do I need to add one ? if so what do I add
The entries for 'File and Printer sharing' are already enabled.
