Hi there!

Just wondering if you would be able to help me with this extremely infuriating problem I have on my network at home.

Each PC has winxp professional and I have two desktops and one laptop. I have run the network wizard exactly the same on each machine, yet only my two desktops can share folders and printers. My two desktops can see the latop, however trying to open it in my network places and I get "\\Laptop is not accessible - You may not have permission to use this network resource" from both desktops. The laptop can't see any of the desktops in my network places.

One desktop is wired into the router, one desktop is wireless and the laptop is wireless.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Thanks

Jon

Got a firewall on the laptop? Might need to create a rule within it to allow your desktop's IP's. Not sure though as I'm just learning this kind of thing.

Nothing but windows firewall on all machines.

My network setup is as follows:

Netgear DG834GT connects to 5 port SMC Switch. Desktop 1 into switch. Netgear WG602 (wireless access point) is plugged into switch also. Both laptop and Desktop 2 connect to the wireless access point.

One worrying thing. Desktop 2 appears in the DG834GT station list, along with Desktop 1. The WG602 appears as "Unknown" and the latop doesnt appear at all. On either the WG834GT or the WG602

EDIT: I can't ping the laptop either via IP address or by its "computer name".
