Hi Guys,

I want to share my C:\ drive of my laptop so it's accessible to other computers on my home network. The main Laptop has Win 7 the others XP. I have tried everything for the laptops to access the C:\ drive but I just get "(name) is not accessible"

I have followed the below link:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24232-sharing-permissions.html?filter

To no avail.

I'm sure as default the Public folder is shared as default and that can't be added to share neither. Is something turned off within Windows do you think?

Thanks

Home.

The computer can be seen fine on the network, it's just then clicking on it it's not possible.

Network discovery on yes.

If you want simple file sharing a la XP you need to disable password protected sharing in Windows 7's advanced sharing settings. Otherwise you need matching accounts (with usernames and passwords) on each machine.

Thanks, disabling password protected fixed things.
