Sharing iTunes - How?

OK, here is the situation.

I have a Synology NAS.
On this NAS there is a folder called Music.
This folder was mapped to my laptop as the M drive.
iTunes on the laptop was setup so that the Library location was the M drive.
I then proceeded to rip all of my CD's from the laptop.

All is well, the laptop can see all of the music.

We have two further desktop machines that want to share this library.
So I mapped the same M drive on both of these desktops.
On their local iTunes installation the Library Location was set to M.

However no music appears on the two desktops.
I manually imported all of the music onto the teo desktops - all fine.
If however I add an album from any one machine, the other two do not see the newly ripped tracks.

So, is there a qway of having a central NAS location containing all of my music and 3 seperate machines all being able to use this library and getting updated when any one machine adds new tracks?

I believe later versions of iTunes no longer support the iTunes server feature on the Synology NAS.
If you look at the video guide it talks about DSM 2.0 we're now well into the 3.0x
I think it once was a useful feature, but not now.

Odd, I believed it was still a useful function. Whilst yes we are on a newer dsm there's still an itunes server function and indeed itunes has the ability to access the network server.

Have you tried it?

If you have and it still doesn't work I would suggest the synology forums as they are evry active with people willing to help.
