Sharing LAN connection over wireless?

I moved in to my new university halls a couple of days ago, and was a bit let down to find out that no wireless is provided. Its not a huge issue, I just like using my Eee in bed etc. sometimes.

Currently the internet connection comes in through an Ethernet port. However, my computer also has an additional wireless card. Is there any way I can share the internet Ethernet connection over a private wireless network to my Eee?

I used to have two computers set up like this a long time ago, but I beleive that was with a USB ADSL modem for the internet connection and a wire linking the 2 PC's.

Do I stand a chance? Any advice?

I had thought of that, I even have a spare router at home, but there are rules which clearly state that this is allowed. Bridging the connection also doesnt work.

Is there any way the IT technicians would ever know if I was using a router? Besides detecting the network..
