Hi guys. This is the scenario.

MY PC in my room, Downloads HD movies and has a 1TB HDD.

HTPC downstairs has a small hard drive so realy wouldnt be able to store many HD movies.

The basics are that i want a way so the downstairs PC can watch or stream my HD Videos (720p) Now the easy solution is just to drag and drop the files onto thier HDD using our network but there HDD is only 250GB i bielive. Second scenario is for them to stream it from my PC that is fine but there will be many of times when my PC will be off and i do not want it to be on 24/7

So what im asking is, is there a way they can make my PC switch its self on to stream a film? Or any other solutions realy. I have a spare HDD lying around somewhere probably only another 250GB. Can this be used for something?

Give or take a ton for a tb one.

Assuming you get your HD videos from the net you could get the NAS to download them for you. That way you wouldn't need to leave your pc on just for downloads.

Thats a win win right there. Ill be on the lookout for one

get mini itx although probably a bit more than you want to spend, will give much more functionality and flexibility with the downside of more effort to set-up.
