Is there some sort of idiot guide somewhere to doing this? I dont seem to be able to connect to a printer on a Vista machine with an XP machine :(

Help!

We need more infomation then that.

How are the pc's connected?
What have you tried so far?

All you really need to do is, enable printer sharing on Vista and share the printer you want. Make sure both computers have the same workgroup. Go on XP machine and add a new network printer. Easy. :)

I find I have to share files before each machine could see the printer. Also, turn off password protected sharing.

Then manually add the printer.

You might also need to go into the printer settings and manually add the XP drivers to the vista installation so that when you try and install the printer on the XP box, it'll take the correct drivers.

If your having trouble finding out whether or not file/printer sharing is enabled on XP, go to Network places and click on Set up a small home network. Run through that and then enable it from the Vista Network center and all should be good to go
