I ordered one of the uv reactive inserts for my shark s900c the other day from an eBay seller anyway it arrived today and the first thing I noticed was the packaging stated it was for shoei cw1 visors.
I emailed the seller and apparently they both use the same fit and it's the only one available for the shark, so I tried fitting it both my pins are rotated so they're as close to the outside edge of the visor giving the most room for the insert but it still seems too big and won't lay flat.
I compared it to the clear insert that came with my shark and it does seem to be a few mm longer, so am I being daft and do I need to fiddle around a bit more or is the seller telling porkies?

If it's really a few mm longer then you'll never get it to fit as it is, they need to be pretty much exactly the right size (within the pins adjustment range).

You could just file the slots a bit deeper, but obviously you won't be able to return it then so it depends on whether the seller was telling the truth about nothing being available for the Shark and how much you want the pinlock.

If you do keep it, I'd be interested to see how well it works in terms of anti-misting. I swapped the standard clear pinlock on my Shoei (which worked perfectly) to a genuine Shoei reactive pinlock. It certainly darkens and lightens correctly but the anti-misting properties are virtually non-existent, the the point that I have to ride with my visor cracked open on cold mornings otherwise it just fogs up.

That's what I'm thinking but the seller swears blind that this is the correct insert for my visor.

I'm surprised that you found it so poor just switching from clear to the UV reactive insert, that's the whole point of the pinlock.

The reason I'd quite like the UV reactive one is that my built in sun visor can mist unless I crack my visor a little bit which I'd rather not do if it's freezing cold so it would be nice to have the option to change from my clear insert when I know it's going to be bright but not the sort of weather I want my visor open in.

I'll have another play tonight, but it seems pretty conclusive that it's the wrong size.

I'll grab one tonight when I get home, I'm pretty sure I had them turned to give me the most room but I was only fiddling with it while dinner was cooking.

tom_e, how much did you pay? I'm after a reactive insert for my Shoei for the winter as it's a pain to swap light and dark every day as it's light when I go to work, but dark when I get home.

Also, to answer your question, I would ask that the seller either organises collection of the pinlock, or refund return delivery. If it doesn't fit, he's missold it & would get a bad rating for me if he didn't replace or full refund.

It was £37.99 but I used the 20% off Paypal voucher that was floating round on here the other day so I got it a lot cheaper than usual which is why I thought I'd grab one now.

The last message they sent after I said it was bigger than my clear one was well if you want to return it we can inspect it and send out a replacement, from the tone of it I think they'll be a pain but then there's always PP if they don't play nice.

Ah ok, so they are just expensive then. The one I've got my eye on is £52!

Yup, send back and insist on a return postage refund. They've sent the wrong product, you shouldn't need to adjust anything or fiddle with it at all.

Yep the UV ones are pricey, I usually get them from RaceVisors and it's up on there for £45
