I ordered a bunch of these fans for both my OCUK system and my first home built system. So I had 4 brand new fans in total ... I installed them at the same time. One system has been running every day for the last couple of months. the other has only been running for about 3 weeks. I opened up the case on one sytem and found that the fan had blown oil over pretty much everything in sight. I was a bit shocked at this so checked out all other fans. Even on the new system that had only been running for about 3 weeks there was oil from ALL fans around the fan housing ... Each and every Sharkoon fan I bought has leaked oil !!!! These were using the "SILENT 7 Volt" leads so they wer not running flat out. Very P*$£&*d off ... stay away from them !!!

Of eight silent eagles i had, 5 x 3 pin 2000 rpm models and 3 x modular cabled variants. One of the 2000 rpm fans did leak a little oil, just a tiny drop that dried up on the frame. Stopped using it after that, but the rest were fine.

Yep Sharkoon are noisy rubbish imho. Haven't had one leak oil on me but don't like the noise they make.

Yep, the 2000 rpm versions are extremely loud, a fan controller is a must for those. However, i found the modular variants to be extremely quiet, i ran them via pwm with a splitter cable, 400-1200 rpm, had two on a TRUE and one as a case exhaust, they coped admirably on my i7 @4ghz, 71-76c per core under IBT load, replaced them though with akasa vipers for the cooler and yate loons for the case.
