hay guys and gals, me and the girlfriend are going to Sharm a week today. we are going to stay at the coral see resort for a week. I guess what i really want to know is has anyone stayed there recently and if so what was it like, did you like it ect. I have never bin to egypt before and i guess i want to no as much as i can before i get on the plane. also i would like to no how much money to take ( is it expensive out there). i have herd that the locals try to sell you crap everywhere you go.

I went to cairo about 7months ago. Egypt is cheap as chips. The markets are great yes they will try and sell you everything as you walk by but some have cracking one liners.

One guy said to me "how can i take your money today sir" another was "want to lose some money today sir" hehe great stuff.

Make sure you always haggle there too. If they say 80pounds you offer 20pounds go from there

I would suggest taking lots of sun cream too, and watch being out and about at mid day. you really dont wanna be out in the open when the sun is high

My family and I went to Sharm about 18 months ago and stayed in the Coral Sea resort. Nice hotel rooms are fine and the pools are ok. The food when we were there was spot on. A huge choice of options every night so even on the fish night (they bbq whole swordfish and it really stinks(I hate fish)) you could find something or knock a pizza up at the very least.

Get friendly with the bar staff and you life will be much easier try tipping them early on with a "thanks for looking after me" and they will bring you drinks instead of waiting etc etc.

The markets are "interesting" some real bargins to be had but it goes totally against British nature to hagel like that and some are just idiots who are a bit rude.

I would strongly advise the snorkeling or diving trips they will blow your mind. If you do diving use the onsite diving school they are very good.

The hotels laundry service was the best I have ever used each T-shirt gets packed in it's own plastic wrapper like a new one (sod the planet it looked cool).

Only bad side was when we went the resort was 50/50 British/Russian. The Russians had to be quite possibly the rudest people I have ever holidayed with. I know they can be a bit gruff but I never heard them say thankyou or please once and they treated all the staff like their personal slaves, shouting demands and carrying on like hell if they didn't get served quick enough in the food queues etc. That said the Russian blokes were all pig ugly but had very very fit girlfriends (makes note to go to Russia when I get divorced).

We loved it and always felt very secure and treated very well by the Egyptians who are on the whole very polite.

The airport is crap but the new one might be built by now hopefully
