Sharp TV + Fire Cube TV input switching

Hi guys,

May as well ask here than wasting my time with Amazon support.

I’ve just moved my Fire Cube TV from a Panasonic TV downstairs to a Sharp TV upstairs.

The Sharp TV has a Sky Q connected to it. I wanted to just use the Fire and Sky remotes but the input switching on the fire stick isn’t working. For reasons unknown I can’t just choose which HDMI port the devices are connected to, instead it’s wanting me to choose how I select the Sky input, but it’s recording an action (press source and scrolling to the desired one), it then gets it wrong every time.

Really frustrating issue. I didn’t know if it was because I’d moved it from one setup to another and that it’s got itself confused, even so I started the equipment setup again. Is it the TV that’s the issue?

Thanks

Andy

Sky's implementation of HDMI Control hasn't been the best at times. It could be interfering with the Cube's learning process.

Power everything off (no power from the wall socket rather than simply standby). Disconnect every HDMI device. Power on the TV (NO HDMI devices connected). Power off again (wall socket). Now connect ONLY the Fire Cube. Switch on TV and cube.

You've now forced the TV to do a couple of HDMI handshakes to refresh the registrations.

Make sure TV HDMI Control is enabled. Go through the setup process with the Fire Cube. (If you want to go 'belt & braces' you can reset the Fire Cube so there's less chance of it remembering any previously learned settings.

Once you have HDMI switching working correctly with just the Cube connected then try reintroducing the Sky box. If stuff falls over then the culprit is Sky's implementation of HDMI Control.

Thanks for that, happy to try it all but I’m a bit sceptical that sky is the issue. The reason I ask is that I went on my daughters standard fire stick and when choosing manage equipment and using the PlayStation for example it asks me which HDMI inputs it’s connected to on the TV. If I do the exact same thing on the Fire Cube it then goes through the ‘learn how your TV switches inputs’, im given no option to choose which HDMI input devices connect too. So I think it’s the Sharp TV? I have the exact same fire cube downstairs on lounge TV and again equipment is setup via HDMI.

Just bizarre really why the TV has allocated HDMIs with a number but you can’t utilise it on the fire cube.
