Shattered Skies Closed Alpha access begins the end of April 2016. Open Beta is tentatively expected for Q2 2016. The Closed Alpha serves as an important stage for players to help us balance the game and ensure that all systems and servers are functioning as intended. Open Beta features all the intended for release game features functional, with some lack of final polishing, balancing and content

Aww, comments disabled for the video :(

I wonder why.

Will not be interested to play this at all. I liked WarZ at first as I was given a key, but after all the fiasco.. I left it.

I'm sorry ( not ) that ISS didn't went into direction you wanted it to go, but ISS did it's part - it was a stepping stone for us to make a better version of open world PVP game.

Shattered Skies is a better game in every way. And it's flat fee purchase, so I mean yes if you think you didn't got enough fun for 4.99 to $30 you probably paid for ISS ( depending on how you bought it ) - then I suppose you shouldn't buy Shattered Skies either.

I'll let the plebs be the judge of that :p

How can they get away with RE-RE releasing this utter ****. talking about how everything is rendered in and instantly runs through a rock. Rubbish and should be avoided as if it's anything like their last two attempts at this game it will be terrible and they will just get sued again.

I think I'll start from how Aftermath is different from WarZ. First of all it's crafting system was more advance, and as result we also created loot system that allowed us to break tons of "fluff" loot into 10 core crafting components. Aftermath had goals - like Town liberations tailored to group and team play. It added character permanent customizations, changed how armor and ammo works - basically improved components that been lacking in WarZ - we had to rewrite most of the game code for that.

Overall - if you can consider WarZ/DayZ/H1Z1 to be "survival 1.0", then Aftermath was 1.5 so to say - it had improvement, but overall was very similar.

Shattered Skies is a more on MMOFPS/PRG side.

In an essence it's a same - TPS/FPS survival full drop looter shooter. You kill monsters and other players, looking for best loot, unlock customizations and do things like this. But there're several key differences.

First of all it does have leveling for character. So more you play, more experience you accumulate, more skills and crafting recipes you'll be able to uncover. Those will create natural progression for your character, making some game features - boss fights, missions available to you.

Next crafting system was totally revamped. Not only recipes right now are available thru character progression, but they also are super useful for any players. Ie - we do not have recipes that would be like "okay we need to have something to fill list" type of stuff. Next goes crafting resources - all of them are available thru special "materials inventory" - they're persistent, you don't drop them on death. So it's very simple and intuitive to use system that actually offer for a change useful items. I mean lets take H1Z1 or Aftermath. As long as you're pretty high level - you don't need **** like basic weapons or bow crafting :). In Shattered Skies we have just only one recipe for gun - it's full auto uzi style "homebrew" pistol. And this recipe is not unlocked until you level 10 or so. So what it means is that after it unlocked even if you die and respawn with nothing at all - you'll always be able to craft basic gun right away. It saves you let say 15 minutes of gameplay each time you respawn. It will always be useful - even if you're at level 80 :)

Character customization is totally different from WarZ. Your character have different parts that can be customized, and all customizations are persistent when unlocked. you also can change your appearance on fly.

Next goes fortification system that we basically borrowed from our failed Burstfire game project. You can check how it works here for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n8PTTObOt4

So you'll be able on the fly craft fortifications and close off windows, holes in ceiling/walls, doorways in a buildings around the map crating your own fortress. We're adding some sort of "supply drop hunt" gameplay on top of that where crates with cool stuff appear on the map - so teams around the map know that in advance and move in to barricade and prepare building for supply drop arrival.

Next goes end game features - high level loot, boss summoning raids and fights, global world events. All those are happening in a game world - so things are not instanced, ie all players on the map can participate of they want.

And yes - game doesn't have micro transactions, paid expansions, things like this.

So bottom line - Shattered Skies is WarZ/DayZ/H1Z1/etc done RIGHT :). Yes it took us 4 years to get here :)

Haha, ain't gonna touch it.

They can talk it up all they want, unless I see a finished product I'm not going near anything of theirs.

The WarZ controversy explanation and full timeline

Reddit post includes source links
Lots of people are wondering why there is so much Drama and hate revolving around WarZ. I have created this post to clarify any misconceptions. I will update this post as new information comes out. If I missed anything be sure to post it in the comments.
NOTE: This is not a hate-post. I am just trying to get the facts straight.
It all started with DayZ, a Mod for Arma 2. DayZ is a online Zombie Survival game. The mod quickly escalated in popularity.
May 16 - A War Inc dev posts on DayZ forum asking if Arktos should make a game with the same element as DayZ (Link).
July 19 - The WarZ is announced by Hammerpoint interactive. It is said to be a "Zombie Survival Shooter-MMO". Shortly after People start calling WarZ a cheap clone of DayZ down the the very name. The Developers claim the game has been in development for over 2 years. The Developers ban anyone posting any sort of criticism on their official forums.
Sep 10 - Hammerpoint announces that WarZ will have an in game marketplace where you can purchase items for real money. These items will be lost on death. Hammerpoint claims the game wont be "pay2win" and all the items you can buy don't effect gameplay.
Oct 15 - WarZ Alpha is released. Lot of people are disappointed to find the game is mostly just a modified version of War Inc (Heres a comparison image). A game developed by Hammerpoints parent company Arktos Entertainment. People noticed that the Terms of Service copy the League of Legends terms of service. The game is slated to go into beta on Oct 30th.
Oct 23 - The Executive Producer of the game, Sergey Titov, calls spawn campers "faggots" but quickly makes a public apology. (Link)
Oct 30 - The WarZ beta is Delayed
Nov 27 - The much delayed Clan feature was added to the game as a paid option
Nov 28 - Due to a massive uproar, the cost of starting a clan was removed, but the real money cost of adding more than 20 characters to the clan remains intact. Note: Each additional block of 20 character invites costs 700GC(roughly $5 US). Each account contains 5 character slots. Therefore a clan of 40 people(5 characters each) currently costs approx. $45.00 US for all member's characters to be invited to the clan.
Nov 29 - People requesting refunds are told that their info will be put on a blacklist and will not be able to purchase things using the same service as WarZ. WarZ updates their TOS disallowing anyone who accepts to get a refund. This is illegal in some countries.
Dec 14 - The Developer make a forum post announcing the bans of a lot of hackers. However, a lot of legitimate players and banned as well.
Dec 17 - WarZ is released on steam and enters "Foundation Release", a term coined by the DayZ community. People notice the steam description lists features that aren't in the game (Screenshot as of Dec 17). The Developers start banning people from their Steam Forums for posting any sort of criticism.
Dec 18 - The Steam description is updated but still contains false information (Screenshot as of Dec 18). . The Developers make a forum post apologizing and unbanning to all the legitimate players banned giving them 700GC of in game currency each (Link). The developers make another forum post to address the criticism (Link). Instead it says that only 7% of the playerbase dislikes the game. A Gamespy interview is released with Sergey (Link). Sergey refuses to acknowledge the fact that information posted on steam was false. Short after a third forum post is made apologizing to players who "misread" the steam page (Link). The game is updated, the hour respawn time is raised to 4 hours with the ability to spend purchasable currency to circumvent it.
Dec 19 - WarZ is made unpurchasable on steam by Valve.
From time to time a mistake can be made and one was made by prematurely issuing a copy of War Z for sale via Steam. We apologize for this and have temporary removed the sale offering of the title until we have time to work with the developer and have confidence in a new build. Those who purchase the game and wish to continue playing it via Steam may do so. Those who purchased the title via Steam and are unhappy with what they received may seek a refund by creating a ticket at our support site here: https://support.steampowered.com/newticket.php
Again, we apologize any inconvenience.
PC Gamer posts an interview with Sergey about the removal on Steam (Link)
