This is nuts, literally! A trans woman in Canada has decided to target female small business owners (mostly immigrant women who work from their homes) and demanded that they, essentially, shave her balls.

A B.C. Human Rights Tribunal hearing over Brazilian waxes devolved into chaos this week punctuated by a slew of bizarre accusations from a transgender woman.

Jessica Yaniv, the complainant, argued she was entitled to receive the advertised wax service and that if the tribunal ruled against her it could lead to a “dangerous” precedent.

Yaniv’s claim emerged after she was denied a Brazilian wax of her male genitalia at a home salon in Vancouver.

At one point, Yaniv compared the business owner — a female immigrant of colour — to a neo-Nazi.

The lawyer for the business owner accused the complainant of engaging in “half-truths and fabrications.”

Tribunal adjudicator Devyn Cousineau frequently had to interject to maintain decorum and to keep the hearing from becoming even more chaotic.

But a substantive question remained at the core of the raucous daylong hearing: should a business be allowed to deny service on the basis of gender identity?

“You cannot choose who your clientele is going to be,” Yaniv said.

However, business owner Marcia Da Silva said she was not comfortable carrying out a Brazilian wax on a person with male genitalia, nor did she have the training for it.

This seems rather different to say not letting a gay couple stay in your B&B on religious grounds or not selling a cake to a gay person etc... some issues of consent whether religious (one defendant is a Sikh woman who has cited her religion) or just personal preference must come into play too in addition to the quite sensible objection that they're not trained or equipped to treat male genitalia (which apparently require different products etc...etc..). Apparently evidence has been presented from someone who does treat (biological) males that they frequently get aroused during these procedures - so this rather strange individual wants to go into a woman's home, (some of the defendants have small children etc..) get them to touch her male genitals, possible get aroused... or else shut down their business for "discrimination".

Hopefully common sense will prevail but if the view is taken that only gender identity rather than biological sex matters here, trans women are women and so must be provided with the same services as all women etc... then this could result in a silly ruling.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Should businesses have to provide equal/equivalent services to both women and trans women regardless of context?

A topless youth pool party for LGBT and allies for people aged 12-24... WTF??? So they wanted to have some guys and girls in their 20s at a party with topless underaged girls and no parents/guardians allowed... best not oppose it though or you're 'phobic.

This gets weirder and weirder, turns out the trans person is seriously odd beyond the activism/shaving of balls - apparently to confuse matters even more she kept a male name and picture on social media when contacting these salon owners, seems to have harassed them and has seemingly managed to get some to settle with her as they didn't want to go to court. Also seems to have a thing for sanitary products and young girls! This person seems like a full on nonce, doesn't seem to like immigrants either!

This literally seems to be the "mythical" trans predator that various TERFs have been worried about with regards to wanting to exclude trans people from women's prisons, women refuges etc..etc..

I saw a video on this yesterday evening and frankly I really wish I hadn’t watched it as this nonsense about waxing and targeting immigrant families in my opinion isn’t the big talking point concerning the behaviour of Ms Yaniv. There are screenshots of Facebook conversations of Ms Yaniv is having with other people concerning asking creepy questions about women’s hygiene products specifically around 10 to 12 year girls (‘Does the string show?’ is the sort of things she/he is asking).


Honestly I don’t easily get shocked but this really was the limit for me as I was nearly sick hearing about some of things they were talking about. He/She came across as some creepy paedophile and someone who needs to be immediately intuitionalised under the metal health act or whatever the Canadian efficient is.

Yeah but that isn't the reason for the court case, unfortunately though this person is perhaps skirting close to a very dodgy area simply being a creep isn't particularly significant, sadly there are plenty of creeps out there. The case though has the potential to create some sort of precedent and put people wanting to operate these businesses into a very awkward position.

I dunno I think it is relevant re: why the person feels emboldened enough to even start some deliberately engineered grievances. They're clearly leveraging the current victim status of being a Trans/LGBT person in the hope of succeeding in getting some pay outs (which they might well have done already out of court it seems).

Possibly, she does have an unhealthy interest in children she certainly does seem to indicate strong potential to be creepy around them... but beyond that we're talking about a procedure where the owner of the male genitals can frequently get aroused... granted they're not specifically giving them a hand job but having this pervert turn up at their home,.when they're alone with their kids and then get aroused etc.. is just weird and could easily be rather intimidating - I can't believe you're objecting to that objection tbh...

This side of your arguement is ridiculous, stats show that trans woman are far more likely to be the victim's of violence than the perpetrator, and nothing suggests this woman is any different in this regard.

There is plenty to suggest that, unless you're of the opinion that this person is representative of trans people in general, which actually would perhaps explain/partly justify the violence! (I'd not personally blame a parent if they did end up battering this individual if she did what she's implied she'd perhaps do in girls changing rooms). Of course most trans people aren't actually like this wierdo.

That said, if the procedure she requires necessitates specialist training the therapist she approached does not have then that specialist is well within their rights to refuse. Indeed to continue with a treatment they're unqualified to undertake could be dangerous and would almost certainly leave them open to charges of negligence if it went wrong, ending their career at best. If it were something like nail painting I'd support this woman if the therapist refused to treat her, but in this case, where the treatment is to a sensitive area and involves a treatment the therapist is not trained in then I have to say I agree that the therapist was probably right to refuse.

I think they're right to refuse regardless, yes that is a valid objection but given the area do you not think that consent is important too?

Like suppose the beauty school they go to trains them in both, they're qualified in both - do you not agree that they can just state they're not comfortable providing this procedure to people who possess male genetalia? (I mean it is a different procedure even so essentially they'd just be saying they don't offer "brozillians" or whatever else they're called.)

I don't really see any trans activists that don't some have ridiculous extremist views. They are nearly always delusional and expect and believe things like teaching children that girls can have a penis too is acceptable.

Well I can agree with perhaps wanting to have gender neutral bathrooms or wanting to raise awareness that there might be some people who identify as women and look rather manly etc.. and that this is generally OK/people tend to accept it etc.. then the likes of bar staff, bouncers, waiters etc... get used to the idea and it all becomes less awkward for everyone involved.

But yeah it can get pretty silly pretty quickly in particularly the absolutist mindset that "trans women are real women" etc.. generally doesn't allow for sensible exceptions as a result of biological differences such as participation in sport or not necessarily being able to make use of a women's refuge etc..

Of course. Though the wig isn't even needed really, I'm pretty sure plenty of female beauticians do in fact offer this service to gay men (and maybe metrosexual types) - the old "back, sack and crack".

The fun begins when you want to go to female beauticians who don't offer the service and only take female clients (possibly because of religious beliefs or personal preference or just lack of training) and then demand that because you're a real womxn they have to offer the equivalent male service to you... only it isn't a male service because you have female **** and balls!

A lot of them have since shared their stories of feeling pressured into the surgery.

Rather tellingly the person in this case isn't transitioning and has identified as a "lesbian" - so unlike those people who perhaps had some mental health issues and were actually gay this person seems more like an opportunistic predator.

That does seem like it, he’s a nonce/predator with a hatred of immigrants who tried to take advantage of the current trend for being “woke” and fighting for social justice etc... only he’s taken it was too far and found out that claiming to be trans doesn’t provide for immunity. I remember when being a transvestite was popular, especially with the likes of Lily Savage and RuPaul. But it seems they are pressured in to joining the trans-sexual movement.

I noticed Eddie Izzard as started calling himself a trans-sexual even though he only likes dressing up in womens clothes. It's a bit of an insult to the trans community in my opinion.
