Sheffield - What's It All About?

My main problems with Sheffield are the accents and the people. Even after being here for two years, I can't understand a single thing people say. I constantly need translations from my friends. And then I need my American friend who's lived here for 8 years to translate what the translator said. The strange thing is, everyone can understand my crazy American accent without a problem.

Bwahahaha

I'm off to Sheffield Uni in 2007 for 4 years. Really looking forward to it. Can't wait to get my chops round a nice pint of proper Yorkshire bitter.

Ah Beeston aint bad. Not as nice as it used to be but not bad. Should've taken a run down into Holbeck ;)

Then there's Seacroft, Harehills, Chapeltown, East End Park...

I'd still take it over every other city :)

Nothing's to see at Holbeck but a large, rough estate. Like all the other ones I listed.

Sheffield home to one of the best football teams in the country .... The Owls !!!!!!!!!. Get a season ticket down there and get to the games , top entertainment ;)

/wednesday plug over

Sheffield is awsome, i've been here for 2 years and loved every bit of it.

It is very studenty though, but as pointed out it is a bit of a building site at the moment, roads and streets are all being done up at the moment, and it's looking good.

Plus as it's (slightly) Northern it's cheep.

Fact: Sheffield is the only city (I think) in the UK to have some of a National Park (Peak District) within it's city boundary.

Is the the Niche all nighter still going? Finished up there once after a night around Sheff and had a great time. Lots of pretty student girls there wearing next to nothing

 Students, Niche? How long ago was this?

The Niche got shutdown around Christmas 2005 after a huge drug raid involving hundreds of police, its now relocated bang opposite The Plug in what was The Limit, but rumour has it that its not what it used to be, I cant really comment as ive never been to either but a few of my friends have.

Theres loads of threads about it on the sheffield forum if you want more info.

Anyway back to Sheffield, I love it living here, nightlife on the whole is great, plenty of places to go, loads of bars for different tastes etc, although like mentioned if you go out every night then you could end up a bit bored eventually.
