Has anyone tried this then and noticed any difference?

I'm curious as it only talks about removing dirt deposits from your engine on the website which in itself is hardly a performance booster in the same way as Shell V-Power petrol is only normal unleaded.

Not true, higher octane rating should produce more power and reduce pinking/detonation in more highly tuned machines, particularly turbocharged cars. Although throwing it in a bog standard 1.6 paxo is unlikely to make any difference.

I am guessing he made a typo, i am sure that Stonedofmoo is well aware of this seeing as he owned a tuned GTI-R for a good while. :)

In our VW Touareg (5.0 V10 TDI), BP Ultimate diesel seems to make about 2mpg difference, but because it's stupidly priced (99.9p, 100.5p and 100.9p/litre at the three nearest garages that sell it) compared to normal diesel it isn't worth buying.

Admittedly there's no V-Power diesel down here yet, so I don't know if that'll make a difference or not. I really can't see what they can do to diesel to make it better performing.

Yup, I messed up what I meant to say :)

What I was meaning was the major difference between V-power and normal unleaded is the higher octane rating which can directly lead to power gains in the right car.

But this diesel simply sounds like diesel... with cleaner to clean the engine. I don't see how this is a performance fuel considering diesel contains agents to clean an agent anyhow.

But then, is V-Power diesel more expensive than the ordinary diesel it replaces?

Its all about the Cetane values, (the derv equivilant of octane but it is actually inverse to octane, the higher the cetane value the easier for it to ignite under compression.

BP ultimate has a Cetane of 55 compared to normal diesel which is about 51.
