Just filled up tonight with the usual vpower stuff. Noticed it had a big e on all the pumps now, have they recently increased the amount of ethanol? I know they were re-branding vpower a while ago and I wasn't sure if it's related. It was also 99 Ron, which I'm not sure if it used to be or not.

It's because we've implemented legislation that says pumps have to be marked with their ethanol/biofuel content, so you'll see all petrol pumps now have an E5 on them and diesels will all have B7 on them. Very few fuels, if any, on sale in the UK today will be anything other than E5 or B7.

The deadline was 1st September for pumps to be marked.

I like it, it helps ensure I’m putting in V-Power and not diesel etc

I’ve always had a weird paranoia of putting in the wrong fuel, likely brought on by those stations where the hoses tend to get twisted around each other. A bit like when you’re trying to wind up a garden hose and half way through the job wished you’d started in the opposite direction

Can you pay at Tesco fully digitally, like at the pump with the Tesco Pay+ app by scanning the QR like in the main store? CBA to find out if someone has already done this :p

Yes when filling up i saw a fuel doctor van attending a car and driver who had presumably misfuelled, the driver looked understandably glum.

I think it can't go wrong that way round, the petrol nozzle is smaller, so you couldn't physically fit the diesel nozzle in to your petrol car. Which is funny as diesel in a petrol just means it won't start and probably a new fuel filter, but petrol in a diesel can destroy the engine.
