Shenmue 3 on 360? TGS 2007

This thread has made me dig out my dreamcast and copies of shenmue 1&2.


I love this game, I even named my pet cat 'Tama'

***fellow fans of Shenmue, prepare yourself for the worst before reading this****

I'm annoyed, angry and sad.

It’s now been confirmed by Kikizo staff saying: “As for Shenmue, I would have to say at this stage, it is worth forgetting about. If all the fans get any rich relatives together and channel it though Dojo perhaps we could buy rights, hire Suzuki (he’d likely say yes) and independently make the game under license from Sega at no risk to them. That is the only way it will get made at this stage I think.”

The following words must’ve been really hard for the Shenmue fans to say: “To clarify, what I meant was I wanted to get clarification on something I heard a couple of days ago, which is that yes, Shenmue Online is ******* and Suzuki’s status is, once again, up in the air, which counts Shenmue III totally out of the picture right now. This is confirmed, it seems.”

I cant believe Sega publish stuff like Chromehounds and sloppy Sonic remakes but they wont let Suzuki do Shenmue.

I dont think we will ever see Shenmue III. :(

Isn't that quote mainly about Shenmue online? (Which I am not bothered about in the least).

I don't see why publishers arn't keen to get this game off the ground as this game would complete the trilogy and therefore be a lot more marketable to new fans. All three games in one package would be a very high scoring game I would have thought. Hopefully strong sales of Mass Effect and other top RPG's would encourage the heads at Sega to get their butts into gear.

EDIT: This topic motivated me to get Shenmue 2 today as I only had one on the Dreamcast and never got round to buying a X-Box.

It says shemnue online is cancelled and that shenmue III is very, very unlikely and nothing is being done on it just now.

You say it would be good to finish the trilogy, did Suzuki not plan on releasing 7 shenmue games? I'm sure I read that.

It think it changed after the first game was released if I remember correctly. :)
 
Just bought Shenmue 2 recently after seeing it up for sale in a game shop. Finished it last night and am now desperate to play the third installment!!!

Had a fish about the net and can't find anymore updated info about it :( :(

How can they leave us hanging?
