Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows

Meh.......

The only Holmes ;):

Wasn't overly impressed with the first one, RDJ looked and came across as completely bored for the entirety of the film.

When you read the books Sherlock comes across as entirely bored for almost the entirety of the books apart from the brief moments of the "chase" which I thought RDJ captured extremely well. I must admit it was a little too camp for my taste despite enjoying it a lot.

TO be fair I didn't even know the second one was coming out until I saw the advert on TV a few days ago :p

Yep the only Holmes for me...wish Ritchie would have got him instead of RDJ...dont get me wrong, i love RDJ but wouldnt have casted him as Holmes...just doesnt suit the role imho.

Ill definitely go and see it, opening 16th Dec according to the posters ive seen.

What did people think of the slow motion scenes? I've heard good things... admittedly from the person who filmed it, but you know ;)

I never properly watched the 'first' one, missed the end.

I concur, Jeremy Bretts Holmes was near perfect imo. To be fair to Ritchie though, Brett had been dead for 14 years so wasnt available to him (in fact in many ways I actually think the role of Holmes was a factor towards his death, he almost ran himself into the ground playing Holmes, such was his passion for the role)

I was looking forward to this but A.V Club gave it a 'C'. They're usually pretty spot on with their reviews too. Just waiting to see what the IMDb crowd think of it now.

I watched this last night at the cinema.

It builds upon the first, but adds a lot more action. The main villain makes a good match for Holmes as they both try to outpace each other.

The slow motion is very well done in the combat scenes, especially a scene where Holmes and Co are running through a forest being chased by gun fire, mortars and heavy artillery fire.

Steven Fry makes a welcome appearance, and naked at one point! Don't worry, his manhood is covered with clever camera trickery.

I'd say if you enjoyed the first, you'll enjoy the second.

Watched this on sat and brilliant film ! enjoyed it !

If you liked the first one then definitely you'll like the second one !

basil rathbone for me love those old black n whites

+1, Rathbone just looked as if he was born to play Sherlock Holmes! I have all of he's Sherlock Holmes films DVD and love all of them.

I saw A Game of Shadows last night and like the first film I was pleasantly surprised by just how good it was without giving up to much the way the fight scenes played out were particularly memorable especially in the final act.

Just back from seeing this, looooooved it. I enjoyed the first one but like a lot of people had some difficulties understanding what he was saying, you'll be glad to hear he has toned down the accent a bit and is lot more understandable.

Sat there like :O for the slo mo forest scene, it looked awesome, would have worked well in 3D.

Went to the cinema a few days ago to see this, I thought it was good but I prefer the 1st one.

Loved the forest scene though :)

Good film but a bit too long for me, I think it's about 2 hours, I think they could have padded it out into 2 films almost, I would have ended it when they got on the train about 30mins before the end, maybe I was just tried but the last 30 minutes did seem to drag

Fantastic film right up until the end

I don't believe for a second he could have survived that fall...too many people are just willing to accept it

No Rachel McAdams? :(

She is in it albeit very briefly, she doesnt last long in the movie.

ahhh didnt know that, shame:(

Saw it last week with the missus and both if us found it much better than the first...didnt think too much of the super slo mo scenes and found it did drag on near the end but all in all much better than the first one.
