Sherlock - Series 2 - BBC

Not a touch on last week's episode sadly.:(

  • Didn't like the main guy in it (the guy who came to see Sherlock about his case). Thought he was terrible...stuttering ALL the time (so annoying. Badly acted. Constant stuttering does not equal a good portrayal of fear) and just generally not up to scratch like all the other characters.
  • Some of the clues in some scenes (and leading up to the finale) were a little too obvious.
  • Didn't like the 'mind palace' scene - thought that was just silly.
  • Last week's was amazing I thought..really good all round - a 9/10 episode. Last night's: 6/10.

04:44 Apple product placement

I thought BBC were immune to such nonsense. Did they really need to show the logo? A generic laptop with the logo either concealed or out of shot would have been fine.

Oh well, evens out I guess. Is there blog which records product placement on the BBC. Intersting to see which comany gets the most 'hits'

I need to get out more.

In my opinion The Hound of the Baskervilles is the definitive Sherlock Holmes story and I really didn't feel the script did it any justice. I also agree that its the poorest episode so far. I have to admit that perhaps my expectations were a bit too high given the story they were doing. I really hope they don't fall into the same trap with next weeks episode, The Final Problem is another classic story.

OH NOES AND IN THE POSH LAD'S HOUSE WAS A BOTTLE OF HP SAUCE!

Haven't reached that part yet, but sets are dressed with products. Why certain products are placed...

Do you keep a bottle of sauce on your kitchen table? OK, silly question. If it was a bottle of Castrol GTX on the table i'd have a point.

Just a subject I'm intersted in. Why certain things are there why they don't need to be.

It's a table. In a kitchen. It was around about breakfast time. Wholly unreasonable for brown sauce to be on the table.

Yes, but would it have detracted from the story if the bottle had not been there?

A discussion for another thread. Yes, I know I brought it up.

Think you need to advise Heinz to sue the BBC as Ive just bought a few bottles of HP sauce because of the product placement. For some reason Im also after a laptop. Suggestions?

Didnt enjoy this one so much, in fact i would go so far as to say this was the weakest episode of the 5 so far shown.

Sill damned good viewing though.

Have to agree.

I also had it sussed really early on, which I can't say for the previous episodes. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much.

Companies would not product place unless it worked. As previously stated, I do not want to derail this thread. An enoyable series.

Would you have preferred that the house was entirely empty? All that furniture had to come from somewhere, right? I find it more jarring to see a whole load of pretend brands everywhere. The HP sauce is on the table because in a kitchen at breakfast time you may well have a bottle of sauce on the table. Unless you think you know better than the people who dress sets for a living?

I'm not expecing a total bare room, no. Why not slip in a Philipe Starck Lemon Squezzer.

"Would it have detracted from the story if the bottle had not been there?"

Still stands?

Enough now though, derailing thread here
