Needed to do a 17m run in house from upstairs to down, got some free cable from relative but when i brought it home i realised its shielded cable and the face plates/keystones i got are regular unshielded ones.
Iv always ran shielded cable with the shielded jacks and connectors so having to ask if anyone has ran shielded cable with regular unshielded keystones and had any issues?
Hoping not to part with money to buy the cable if i can get away with using this stuff and just terminate it as usual and ignore the shield?

I was always taught that the shield can act as an antenna if its not grounded to the proper jacks or rj45s. Wondering how far i can push this to cheap out on spending money lol.
Cable with go from switch to tv so not mission critical. Will go in trunking so can be removed with minimal hassle if i come across free bee unshielded cable in future.

I'd just use it - can't see it being a huge issue, and as it can be removed with minimal hassle there is zero risk other than a little wasted time.

TV probably only runs at 100Mbps anyway :)

So long as the cable and connections match there shouldn’t really be an issue depending on what it’s running adjacent to and/or across. It would be worse if one end was terminated and the other wasn’t.

But if you’re trying to fit CAT6A cable into CAT5 or CAT6 connectors then that is definitely on my not recommended list.
