I work shifts, I have a family of 4 diet. (Read that we are 4 people not I eat 4 people's worth hehe). We probably eat to many cakes and probably have a liberal portion issue. But this isn't why this thread is in existence.

As a shift worker I work 12.5 hours which includes 2 meal breaks. And on nights 1 slightly longer meal break. What do other shift workers cook? Prepare in advance for long shifts...i.e. what's your fuel of choice? I looking for new ideas...soups don't to leave me with enough energy, otherwise I'm left with pasta salads and I'm getting very bored.

So lets collaborate and come up with some ideas.

How about some Bento? :D Nah, I didn't think so, unless your wife will make it for you lol.

When was the last time you had a nice casserole or stew? :) Easy to make and way more satisfying than soup! I'm a chef (more of a cook lol) so just eat what I fancy at work and have protein shakes. I would love to have a nice warm home made casserole at work this time of year though.

Chilli, bolognese, noodles/stir fry and curries are all fine heated up in the microwave (Asda sell individual pots of these for £2 each iirc).

Could also make a non pasta salad, chicken strips + croutons, nuts etc. to add some variety. Cous cous is nice cold as well.

Might be because I'm cheap but working shifts I get whatever ready meals are on offer for £1 at the local asda or heron.

I find most places have the minimum essentials so any food must either be cold or microwave heating only and I find it easier eating a ready meal and throwing the container away then taking in a meal and forgetting to bring the container home
