Shimano HG31 11-34T 8spd Mega-range cassette

I’m interested to know more about this cassette, what would the 34T mega-range provide me?

A massive jump from the second easiest sprocket, which is 28t iirc.

So the large 34T gear is useful for uphill peddling I guess?

I’m interested as i’m getting on in age and any help with a climbing gear would be good, it’s also fairly cheap (£16)

What cassette have you currently got? What chainrings? Hilly area? Using your current easiest gear a lot in the hills?

An 11-32 is same price, not quite such an easiest gear, but sprocket jumps more equal (11-13-15-18-21-24-28-32) and the easiest three gears are better suited to hillier rides.

I have an HG50 8 speed, 11-32 I think

Just checked and it's a 11-30 HG50, so probably best avoid mega-range and go for a 11-32 cassette instead if I want a little more uphill help.
