I'm keeping my beady eyes on the beast that is the 3Ghz Intel quad with a tasty fsb of 1333. Now....
It's been a while and just coming back into things in terms of hardware. Last time I bought RAM there wasn't any DDR2 even available! So needless to say I'm a wee bit baffled.
If I go an get myself a CPU and mobo capable of churning out a FSB of 1333, am I going to be able to run PC8500 DDR2? Will I be doing myself an injustice (or worse) or is that just the way of the world at the moment?

you can run slower memory on that also. the fsb is quadpumped soo in reality the fsb is 333mhz as standardthis is tyhen doubled to make a ram speed of 667mhz if you use the ram divider set at 1:1.

pc6400 ram would be good but if you intending to do some good overlocking then the pc8500 would give you better scope to achieve this

Nice board, and although not the place to talk about mobos, I reckon the Striker Extreme beats it by a margin on stock. O/C'd there's no comparison, but I don't plan on O/Cing and like gimmicks like the rear LCD :P

The striker isn't that good tbh, you'd be better off getting a p35 based board...

If you weren't clocking, pc5300 ram would be fine for the cpu. crucial ballistix pc5300 continually overclocks to 1000mhz, and, i really dont think you'll need any more than that, as quad's rarely (if ever at all) clock to 500mhz fsb....
