Hi guys, I’m not sure what to do here

I ordered my Shinobi XL , (along with a h100i) but both times its arrived damaged, first time it had a cracked side panel and second time the top panel was damaged.

OCUK have been great about it, this time offering me a replacement or refund. im not sure what to accept

I love the look of the Shinobi but don’t want the same problems again if I accept a replacement. Anyone else had these problems with the shinobi? Wondering if its just a bad batch.

Also are there any other suggestions for a case?

I like the look of the corsair C70 but I can’t stand the side panel and don’t want to do any modding.

Hey snips

Nope not just XL-ATX, i just went for the Shinobi XL because i dont think the h100i will fit in the normal version

The clearence in an ATX case will be fine for the H100i. You can get them in the BitFenix Prodigy case with plenty of room too!

Some suggestions:

Cooler Master CM-690
Cooler Master Silencio
Corsair Carbide 300R/400R/550D
Fractal R4
Silverstone Fortress

Thanks for replys guys

Thanks for all your suggestions snips, definitely something to look at. That fractal R4 is a really nice looking case but not available on OCUK at the minute with no ETA :(?

when i got my shinobi xl it was fine dude, no problems at all.

I think I have just been really unlucky with mine.

Your Shinobi build looks amazing, it’s just made me want mine even more! haha

cheers man! appreciated! i just wish bitfenix would let me buy the top central mesh from them... i want to mod mine so much, but am skeptical. no doubt il do it anyways ^^

Thanks for replys guys

If you call them or put a thread in CS, you'll get a reply pretty quick. 5UB is always prompt.

When i got mine, one of the pegs that holds the front panel on was broken. Still pretty securely held on though. Theyre a nice case, but let down a bit by shockingly poor air intake at the front. Not too big an issue if using a radiator on the top mesh.

Mine got shipped from Germany and arrived mint. Sounds like you have been extremely unlucky.

As setter above mentioned, really not great for airflow from the front but would be fine for a WC build

Thanks snips, I think I’ll go for 3rd time lucky on the Shinobi as I had my heart set on it, but will definitely consider the R4 if I have the same problem. Do you know if I can request that Overclockers check it isn’t damaged before it leaves them?

Thanks guys, yeah all the plastic pegs had broken off my roof panel so It was just flapping around.

Yep So I should be fine with the H100i in the roof.

H100i should fit ok in the top as it's radiator is only 27mm in depth. For custom watercooling, the case struggles to accomodate some of the thicker rads up top, unless you modify the top panel and mount the fans to the case frame below the panel.

Was indeed your build that was one where id seen this done, (stunning build btw). Mind if i ask davido, what brand of braiding did you use? Im looking for a similairly dense weaved style like you used. Only in blue, the 24 pin, 8 pin and x2 pcie cables on my corsair hx 850 are still braided in factory black. Id like to get them done to match the blue corsair modular cable set i bought.

aaah, thanks for the compliment buddy!!

the sleeve is MDPC-X its really dense, and easy to work with! Also 3 shades of blue i believe, so you should get close to the colour you want!

Thanks for that, ill check it out. Currently using a few bitfenix extensions. But they add a bit more bulk behind the side panel, and theyre a bit different in colour and texture to the corsair cables. More of a cloth type braid. Less vibrant, but slightly easier to route/bend.

yeah, that is a downside to mdpc, it is quite thick, so can be stiff, but if you "work" the cable enough, you can make clean bends etc.

i hate the cloth type braid / paracord as it picks up dust on it, and just looks like shoe laces to me.

Thats the good thing with cable management in the xl. So many options for routing/bending so you can do a good job of hiding cables. Gotta agree about the cloth braid and dust. With the plastic type braid, a squirt of compressed air is all you need to remove tiny amounts of dust. With the cloth type, its a case of removing the cable and wiping it down.

the braid i used, is that tight if you do it right, the dust doesn't seem to settle on it at all!

if ya want, i can send you a couple of small samples that i have left over, i only have white or grey left though?

Thanks for the offer mate, very kind of you. But seeing the quality of it in the pics gives a great idea of how it looks, and will save you the hassle of posting. Tbh, it looks even better than the stuff that corsair have used.:)
