We've moved into new office premises (as anyone in the laminate thread will know) and we keep getting static shocks off everything. Because it's off almost everything (metal door handle, metal desk frame) I think we're getting 'charged' by something else.

What actually is a static shock and what could it be? We've no carpet so it's not like we're charging ourselves when walking around.

Aliens.

Trousers with Lycra in will generate static, the biggest source is often office chairs.

You can get ESD work matting that grounds out any charge, buy some and put them around doorways.
Greater humidity helps too, so keep making cups of tea.
