If Rome can bring my PC to its knees and Shogun 2 can also do the same thing, while looking a lot better, I'm not sure how Shogun 2 is a problem?
shogun 2 is a relatively new engine that advertises core i7's. the thing is it doesn't use more than one core effectively. Rome doesn't support multi core which is understandable but for a new pc exclusive engine that doesn't support multicore and doesnt use more than 2 gb ram is a fail in my eyes.
jsut look at battelfield 3's engine it usees a lot of ram and CPU resources. ive seen it use 5-6gb ram overall. including windows in background etc.
if shogun had that level of optimization it would be no problem to run.
