So I've been playing a lot of BF3 lately and I'm feeling a bit of battle fatigue, would like to play something a little more personal...

I'm thinking along the lines of CS, with a round based system and a more personal feel. Are there any good games like this anymore?

I do have CS:GO but I just get the feeling I'm playing the same game I played ten years ago.

Pff, a bomb mode in BF3 would be excellent IMO.

Me and my mate are wondering this too, as much as I love CS GO, the reg in the game is ****e and we are on the verge of stopping playing and hope it gets better in the future, but as far as I'm aware there are no other games that come close to the tightness of CS

Trying aiming for the head.

I like the format of the game, rounds and objectives.

I don't really like the combat or weapons, like I said, it just feels like I'm still playing CS 1.5.

Why change something that isn't broken? CS is to-date, in my opinion, the definitive multiplayer FPS game; nothing comes close to it. The hitboxes are perfect, the gun handling is fantastic, the physics (although dated) are superb - what's not to like?

Aim for the head? With CS:GO hitboxes? Might as well try shooting their neck, you might find the pin-***** sized hitbox there. The game does not work with the awful netcode they employ and the crippled engine to start with...

Thank you, Valve servers are **** and 128 is nearly as bad, How does a m4 do 66 in 4 etc and how can bullets miss at a point blank spray?

I have put 220 hours in CS GO so far, I think the only guns that work are shotguns and the P90

I felt this way for a long time and was very pleased that CS:GO was released for this reason. Anything else you will be comparing to CS anyway.

You could try Shootmania but that's more towards Quake.

I guess I just enjoy how games have moved on with weapon mods, aiming down the sight, even the movement in CS is just so... Staid...

Don't get me wrong, if you love it then play it, an I'll probably give it another try, see if some mates want to play. It would be nice if there were more "modern" games that used the same formula but they all seem to have moved towards maps with a billion routes, instant respawns and tones of "perks"...

Shootmania is a bit far into uber competitive to me.

I guess in general that's one of the problems with CS, it's a little too competitive and is specifically designed to be competitive.

Haha I know what you mean, dw :p
I've put 573 hours into CS:S (I stopped playing when I got to a competitive level for some reason, now my steam friends I used to play with are playing proper competitive matches, I coulda been part of that :()
Anway, CS:S just felt like a good shooter to me, plain and simple, with no crap in between, I tried BF3 but i feel too clunky in a way (maybe to be playable on consoles?). I haven't got CS:GO, is it really that bad?

Murray didnt say which one. Dg should be along any moment to mention cod 4 pro mod servers. Which actually sound perfect for what you want to play.
