Simple tips for better shopping.

Reach to the Back of the Shelves you Lazy gits
All stock is Constantly rotated so that the old is at the front & the new at the back. Reaching to the back can get you meat/food that will last a week rather than a day.

Be nice to the Staff whether you want to be or not.
Those that are nice get Extra help & are even pointed towards better deals or savings they have missed. Customers that are horrible get smiles but that is all ;)

Shop during the night or around 7am if you want to go in the day.
By 7am All the Fresh food is put out whether needed on the shelves or not it will be out on the shop floor, This is when digging to the bag reaps best rewards.

Also hit those Reduced sections for food you fancy that same day.
Fresh food on reduced is still within date & if eaten the same day can save you 50%.

Never & I mean Never Assume the Supermarket you are in sells Everything cheap.
I can walk you around my store & show you many superb deals, I can also walk you around & show you items that cost Double what they cost at other Local stores.
Do Not be fooled by loss leaders just buy them & ignore the expensive stuff.

Anybody else got some shopping tips ?

Do it on the internet

 Are you ********* me.

Sorry to say this but I Never shop on the Internet, I browse on the web & get a good deal to take to a shop to haggle or I pre order & go & pick it up. Even with OcUK I go & pick it up myself, **** buying stuff with out seeing it & **** putting my goods in the hands of some no good courier to play footy with until he decides it's time for me to have my item/items.
In the case of Food shopping Oh my good God laugh out loud, Do you Really think you are getting the best Food to put inside your body by buying it online & letting agency or temp staff pick it for you :p

electronics shop online. Even if you go to a shop and haggle you are extremely unlikely to get the price down to what you can find on the internet. I like my bargains. Packaging is superb and protects your items from football games, that's what it is designed for. i have unloaded lorrys in the past. If you saw how it was unloaded you would think 100% of goods would be broken, yet 99.9% of stuff is fine. You can always refuse or send stuff back if it is broken or not working.

Food shopping do it at 4am or whenever you finish night shifts (one good thing about doing shift work)
Also plan food shopping work out what you going to eat for the week and buy accordingly. You will spend 1/2 what you normally would.

I used to do this, theres nothing wrong with it, I dont care if my baked beans have a dent in the tin, nor if my pack of crisps seems a bit crushed. If I was that bothered about my average shopping I would have gone to get it. If I cooked a proper meal for people etc etc I would definitely go and get the ingredients myself, but everyday basic stuff? Online all the way. I dont have time. I do understand why people would want to 'feel' and make sure the meat and select fresh items are in good nick.

if you're an old lady always make sure to refuse help with packaging and then pay by cheque thus making the 30 people long queue take even longer to get through

p.s. make sure you make quite a few errors on the cheques so you have to write at least 3 until you get it right

it may not apply to food but on stuff such as media or electronics, online is often the way to go unless you need it like immediately. obviously some stuff you might want to check first but do your research, check it out or whatever then get it much cheaper online :p

Only tip i ever give people is; support your local butcher, typically he provides much better meat at either an identical or cheaper price in comparison to supermarkets.

not round my area they don't

sadly its generally more expensive and tasteless

Take advantage of promotions you see, e.g. BOGOF or discounts. It really does make a difference.

Yep found a great local butcher, great produce. 40p each or 10 for £3.50 on burgers.
700grams of game meat for just over £2.. Can't go wrong.. Umm will have to make a game pie..

Online all the way, especially at this time of the year. No messing around trying to get through queues and queues of people. Generally shop around and you get a better deal online, from the comfort of your armchair, and get someone else to deliver it, saves me venturing into town!

Rape the **** out of the butcher counter at about 8pm and most of the top end meat will be knocked down cheaper than the boot leather. Fill your freezer and feast like a king.

Point well made & taken :)

I was going on about food shopping being locked in the supermarket train of thought :o
I do agree that Leccy goods PC etc can be purchased cheaper online & you can get Exactly what you want rather than settling for whatever your local shop has which is usually crap.
Appreciate you all baring with me though

This is absolutely spot on.

I am a firm believer in local produce and local business, if you build up a relationship with your local butcher you will find they are capable of getting all kinds of exotics for you.

I live in a small village but my local butcher can get me Buffalo, Veal, kangaroo all kinds of things....another bonus is he will get rabbits in for me.
