Short 8pin CPU Cable > Very Frustrating

So I did another build just recently, and this was the first time going for a EVGA PSU, it is a EVGA SUPERNOVA 1000W Gold.

The PSU looks really good, I actually have the system built and everything is running pretty good but I am quite annoyed at how short the 8pin CPU cable is. The case I am using is the Zalman H1, I was hoping to route the CPU cable through one of the bottom gromets and around the back and pop it up through the top and connect it for cable management purposes, but the cable is well short and just wont reach

Having previously used power supply's from the likes of Corsair I never really faced this problem, so right now it looks rather ugly having that cable dangle right across the motherboard and virtually sitting on top of the graphics card.

I have two questions regarding this, the first is can I swap the CPU cable that came with the EVGA PSU for one from my Corsair psu that is a spare and is longer? The other is can you buy any cable extension for it? I think the Zalman H1 case has something that looks like possibly a way of making the CPU cable longer but I dont want to just connect and put cables here and there in the hope of it working.

So long story short, my 8pin CPU cable is too small and I need a longer one or a way of making it longer. What is the best thing to do, do you think?

Thanks :)

I've always had that problem with PSUs that sit on the bottom of the case. I just get an extension cable, and they always work fine, and give you much more slack on routing round the back of the motherboard.

Don't use a cable from a different PSU, they can be wired differently, and even if the plugs fit, you might make it go pop.

Has it come with the right cable ? Surly a psu of that size would come with the expectation of a huge case full of goodies.

I have a 600 seasonic x and the cable were more than ample in a enthoo pro.

Yeah a lot of brands are stingy on cable length. Superflower and Bequiet especially.

That's my point, last year I did a build with a Corsair RM850 Gold and that went in the Corsair 750D Obsidian tower and the cable length was plentiful, PSU at the bottom.

This is the first time I have come across a PSU with such short cable length and not something I would have expected so quite dissapointed in that respect with the EVGA PSU.

I've had the same with Corsair PSUs too, so I guess it just depends on how much copper wire they want to save for any given model.
