Switched off but still had power.

I foolishly stuck my hand in to get a metal bar thing that fell from my case.

Got a big shock, snap and light.

What can be salvaged from my PC?

I'd say it all depends on how much damage he zap did :-s have you tried powering the pc on since? Any sort of life at all coming from it? You best bet to see whats salvageable would be to try different components in a different system 1 at a time

Depends what happened, has anything got a light? PSU, mobo LED etc

You can try changing fuse in your Kettle lead, might be the PSU died so that might not fix it, test output of PSU if it does light up/do anything
If thats not it, may be motherboard.

Give it 10 minutes then try powering it on. If your lucky the PSU over-volt protection shut everything down before any lasting damage was done.

If you're unlucky you've fried lots of expensive kit.

The only way to know is try powering it up, but wait a few minutes before trying

Depends what blew really.

If the metal bar just sparked the PSU it may only be that. Try swapping out the PSU first if the one you zapped isn't working.
