Should a modern fridge get condensation or frozen spots on the back?

We installed a new integrated Bosche Fridge freezer a couple of months ago and there's always some water on the back of the fridge, we notice no moisture in the freezer.

It fluctuates between being water, so we can wipe it off with paper towel, to frozen water droplets.

Our old Bosche fridge freezer of 16 years never had this.

Should this be happening?

One engineer I asked seemed to say that due to the new energy efficiency rules and regs modern Fridge freezers have to adhere to, so they are different and this is normal, but this seems really weird and my mum is on the verge of calling Bosche for a replacement.

So, is this normal now?

Our fridge (a Miele) does that.

I suspected it was to do with the humidity control - gather the water a the back so it drips down into the drainage. But I've never looked into it.

There's two different types of systems for fridge freezers,

Wet wall (like yours) the evaporator plate is glued to the back of the liner, when compressor is called on the back plate gets well into the minus figures any moisture in cavity is drawn to it and then freezes as small ice droplets or frost.

Blown air, just circulates the cold air from freezer section to the fridge section.

mine has never done it but it's a top of the range samsung.

bosch is just a name nowadays they don't make anything themselves. much like the sports direct owner buying up old names which used to be connected with quality then setting up sweat shops in the far east churning out cheap crap with their name tacked onto it.

Yeah like Bosch Power tools made in far east quality went down hill quicker the Eddy Edwardes!
They buy washing machines in from China for the pricely sum of.......................................£24

Hmm. Our old hotpoint fridge freezer used to have condensation that dripped off the cold plate/back and down a little hole to the pan in on the compressor where it would evaporate. The freezer compartment used to fill with ice too!

The replacement Bosch fridge freezer doesn’t have a visible cold plate but has blown air ports instead. No condensation or frost.
