This seems like a good advance in technology for LCD before the problems of oled are ironed out i guess

later on in the vid you can see the main benefit of no clouding or backlight greyness so you get plasma blacks. this production has started for normal tv panels but should find its way into monitors not long from now

sounds good so i thought id share

Thanks very much for that - very interesting and something I'll keep an eye on. How did you find out about this?

I have spoken with Samsung representitives in Hong Kong who are working on OLED tech and it is coming along very nicely (ok it was more of a demonstration than an interrogation ;)) - the largest problem (that of blue material degrading rapidly) has been 'ironed out' already. I wonder when we'll see Sharp's new tech. in the UK and how much the screens will cost.

found out from browsing for new lcd tech as im desparatley looking for an lcd with almost no bezzel for eyefinity.

the tech does look promising id imagine if its cheap then we can expect lots of lcd screens to have this, i know oled may rule in the future but you are starting to see 120hz lcd`s and 6 mm thin lcd`s with thin bezzels and this tech.. which must level the playing field in terms of longevity and colour life balance over oled, im not interested in a bendy oled screen or a transparent one but if next gen lcd monitor can be a good res and 24-26" with this uv tech and 120hz and a thin bezel thats all i need

Well I don't think anything will come close to the contrast, thinness, responsiveness and colour reproduction of OLED screens once they are released. But I also don't expect affordable consumer models in adequate sizes until perhaps 2015 and beyond. I think LED backlighting and 120Hz technology is making things a little more exciting and that UV2A tech. is certainly worth looking out for :)
