Should BF2142 be silky smooth?

E6300 @ 2.8
X1800XT 256
1680*1050 @high settings/medium AF

Now...I've just upgraded - but I've downgraded to 1gig of ram until the 27december. I have textures set to medium, but should it be smooth?

Probably. Need 2 Gig for high textures. Lower AF if you have stuttering.

what about

2gb GeIL 6400 ULL @ 400mhz (800)
e6300 @ 2.8 (400mhz fsb)
512mb 7900GTO at GTX or more (havnt got the card yet but hey...)

erm NO !, you need to think about the server hosting the game,the location, the amount players and their ping etc etc they all impact on your gameplay

BF2142 easily hits 1.5gigs of mem useage at 1680 x 1050 with textures turned up

probably because the singleplayer maps are 16 player and thus much smaller and less going off on the screen.

Meh. Now I'm on 512. I had 2gb of DDR1/3700 amd - but upgraded to a conroe/geil 1gig (can only afford the ram after christmas)..

Oh well
