We are nearly a secular state, the church has little influence on people today and rightly so.

Isn't religion pretty closely bound with our legal system? For example one of the main reasons euthanasia always fails to get anywhere is because of Christianity and the taking of life. Religion is also very closely affiliated with schools in the UK, 25% of primary schools are CofE.

Religion should be a private matter, it has no place anywhere other than at home.

Let us all know when Westminster Abbey is turned into housing association flats and the Monarch refuses the job of being head of the Church of England.

As many major cities are now the sites of dreaming minarets and no longer dreaming spires, and more mosques are being built all the time, even if Christianity is rejected our immigration policies, or lack thereof, will maintain a strong religious presence in this country.

Imagine spending your life cowering in fear like that. They do it to themselves though, so no sympathy.

One part of me would like to see all the bishops hoofed out of the House of Lords, but on the other hand, I'd much rather they be in there than the KGB agents and political donors and other riff-raff the Tories have been stuffing it with.

This is the most daily fail, ultra righty, tory voting comment I have *ever* seen on this forum, and thats saying something!

BowdonUK is panicking as 4.4% of the entire population is a 'take over' in his eyes :rolleyes:

I sense no panic at all in his post, where do you see this? If he should be CONCERNED, then that is justified as radical Islam has documented its goal of subjugating the West and proven its contempt and ability to use violence in such an attempt. How many Islamic countries have a 4.4 percent or higher Christian population level?

It's interesting you see it as me panicking. I think you're panicking.

I'm not afraid of another abrahamic religion, you probably are.

The point I was making is religious people are more active than atheists.

That’s not why assisted dying doesn’t get anywhere. The reason it doesn’t get anywhere is individual MPs.

Literally zero panic from me, well, actually there is some, just how hysterically brain washed the UK population has been conned into yet another 'us vs them' rhetoric - so so many Britains go this way, its what has allowed the torys to flourish sadly.

I have little interest in religion, however some of the most lovely people I know are very religious, some are christian, some are muslim, all are lovely, neither have an interest in taking over a country, as do 99.99999% of any religious people, so even making the point 'its a risk' is abit daft...........however making comments of an 'us vs them' attitude does indeed create conditions in which 'a take over' can more easily happen and we as a people all fall further to the right.

Acceptance, understanding and helping your fellow human being is whats needed, it stops things like whats happening in the USA from happening - they went so far right, they installed extremist Christians which have now removed women rights.

We simply need to not tolerate that, and helping each other as a whole removes 0.00001% of the extremists.

As for Islam in the UK - its a non issue, no threat what so ever.
