The time has come to be judged yourself gazza:rolleyes:

Tax avoidance is not illegal..it is accounting. It is the Governments responsibility to ensure the robustness of the tax system.

Pretty much every self employed individual (and quite a few PAYE) avoids taxation to some degree, whether it is claiming for the extra PC or doing some cash in hand or bringing in tobacco and alcohol from abroad....I suspect that Gary Barlow has raised and/or donated significantly more than the OP to charities of varying descriptions so perhaps we should simply recognise what he has done rather than vilify for what he has not.

I don't think any TV/Artisis should get OBEs or anything like that just because of who they are..people who saves lives on a daily basis like surgeons/paramedics and normal members of the public only should get them.

As for that said,I couldn't really care about his Tax avoidance,He has so much money i ve never really understood why they avoid the tax...same with Wesley snipes...its not as if they're going to miss it.

Yeah Easyrider... Take That and party!!

;);)

I would like to add that having an OBE or an MBE does not mean you're an upstanding member of the community anyway. In reality, you can be awarded one in return for very little contribution to society.

So has Elton John. But he pays his Tax.

Fact is...what your saying is....If I give to charity Its ok to avoid tax?

BS post

Greed...then managed guilt by the odd charity gig. How does Barlow sleep at night.

I don't know all the facts so can't comment...

Wether tax avoidance is any better than tax evasion in a moral sense (regardless of its legal status) is the question really. If you could get away with paying less tax (legally), would you? yes you would, to think otherwise is just stupid.

This isn't a question about whether this **** nugget should give back his OBE, but wether government should do something to the laws.

EDIT:

No he should not.
He raises lots of money for charity.
He makes donations of his own.
If the tax system allows him to do what he does L EGALLY then quit complaining or vote a govt who will resolve the system to one you desire.
Labour had ten years of cba fixing it, no one cares.

Thats all fine and dandy. But then don't go on TV preaching to the masses about how good you are...

Look at me I'm all wholesome....Makes me sick.

Or to people whom molest children (Jimmy Savile)

Nope, it's ok to avoid tax regardless of charitable donations. If the Government gave half a **** they'd close loopholes. But that is certainly not in their best interests as I'd imagine that most of their pals and backers take advantage of the tax system in this way.
