Should I add another 2GB?

Hi.

Well at the moment I have 2GB of Crucial Ballistix PC5300 Ram, I find that gaming in Vista is still a struggle with some games even though I have 2GB ram.

Would it be wise to buy another set of the same ram? Or could this cause hassle with my Asus P5N-E SLi mobo and would it really be worth spending 70 quid more for an extra 2GB ram?

The Asus P5N-E SLi can't run 4 sticks over 667mhz, tho it's not a major problem since it can run the memory out of sync.

If you're struggling with 2gb then 4gb would be of benefit to you.

Whether it's worth the money probably depends on how much money you have.

What OS

Unless your running Vista 64 forget it, Vista 32 will only see and use about 2.8 to 3.2 gig.
Limitations of a 32bit OS, but if your on 64 go for it.

The benifits depend on what your doing, and what OS your running. If your running a 64bit OS then the gains will be pretty clear, as XP64/Vista64, and of course 64bit Linux/Unix OS's will be able to directly use the ram, and give more efficient use of large swapfiles as well.

32bit windows defaults to only permitting 2gb memory, although it can be fooled into using PAE to enable 3gb, however any 1 program is still limited to 2gb of 'user space' unless specifically programed to be PAE aware. If you heavily multitasking that may not be a major problem, for example 3 programs could each allocate a gig of ram, and all would be nice and fast.

64Bit windows on the other hand supports upto 128gig at the moment, and will likely be increased at some point in the future. Thats just a limit set by microsoft, not a physical limit. 100% of available memory can be accessed by a single program if required without resorting to slower 'PAE' addressing.
