Quite a few years ago I gave advice about Stoke on Trent in a thread somewhere on OCUK (can't be bothered to find it).
Anyway, since then it is no exaggeration that I have had at least 30 emails asking me about Stoke and if I can give advice.

Been reading one of your old forums on Stoke area, Can you give me some advise on Buying property in Stoke area? I live down in the Cotswolds & currently own one up Liverpool Rd, Red Street, Chesterton, Which I have rented out for the last 3 yrs & has been ok for me. My budget is a bit less this time looking at around £65.000, What do you think of the following? 1.Maud street, just off Victoria Rd opp Fenton Park, Fenton, ST4 . 2.Duke street, Heron Cross (Fenton) ST4 3BJ. 3. Welby Street, Fenton, ST4. 4. Edward Street, Fenton. ST4 2JT Also whats your view on Smallthorne? Any advise on Good/Bad areas/Streets to avoid would be great, It is for investment to Rent out. If you had an old post on Overclockers, it is probably highly indexed in Google, so that's why they are finding you and using your old username.

I'd ignore the emails.
But I'd look into how they got your email address.

This - I get a few e-mails a month from people asking RS6 questions/advice because my thread on here gets picked up by Google very quickly and my username on here is slightly different than the one on any car forums I use. However @billysielu makes a good point about how they get an e-mail from a thread, unless they join OcUK just to ask a question?

Go back and edit the email out of the post and it'll probably reduce it to just those who might see an old cached copy rather than everyone googling what it's like in Stoke finding your post saying "email me a postcode here's my address"

I would definitely edit that post if I was Fox - Never post your email on a forum post - That’s why we have the Trust system.

Actually, better off asking a mod to cleanse that thread for you because other people have quoted it too so you can't remove them all yourself.

Google ranks OCuk pretty high. There’s been quite a few times when I’ve Googled someone and OCuk has been one of the top three results.

Imagine what people find when they Google corner sofas or letterboxes. :eek:

I've moved that thread out of the public view so it simply won't be seen any more. I can't stop anyone finding it from Google cache or the wayback archive thing but at least it's out of the way.
