Hi guys and girls,

Had my xbox elite for just about 2 months and worked fine up untill just now, basicly i turned it on with the pad and it went straight to the dashboard and realised it didnt see gta4 in the drive (just said open drive). i ejected the game and tryed several others and it wouldnt reconise any of them.

I then played a demo of Skate and played for 5 minutes then restarted the xbox and it now plays disks fine. tryed several games and rebooted ect many times and alls working so far.

Should i be worried? could i take it back to the guys in purple and get another one straight away? would i be able to get a free game or any thing?

Cheers

I could understand if i was asking about the RROD.... but if you read my thread the question is cleary;

Should i be worried about my drive or not?

:rolleyes:

Right what you need to do is take it back to where you got it from if they aint helpful give good old microsoft a ring saying its your 15 xbox and then say I'm going to sony and you might end up getting 12 months live membership not the first time Ive heard it just due to a phone call

i had a similar problem, where the bit at the bottom would only say "Play DVD" no matter what disc was in, i phoned support and they told me to unplug it, take the hardrive out, switch it on, all that nonsense and then see if it worked, then eventually they gave in and summoned my xbox, sent it away and got a replacement xbox(not sure if it was a "new" replacement) in 7 days.

I now own a PS3

My dvd drive problem came outta the blue totally, no warning or misreads. An abnormal quite loud noise came from the 360 and that was it, after that wouldn't read anything.

I'd try get it replaced or sent in.

I'm sorry to hear that, the drought your experiencing must be worse than any 360 failure.

oh, ive got a 360 in the livingroom now, but the ps3 is all mine, so if I do have that hunger I can always go through ;)

:confused: :confused: :confused:

What good game has arrived for 360 this year that can't be had on PS3? Maybe Ninja Gaiden 2, but that is hardly worth calling PS3 situation a drought. Especially if you have been playing MGS4, Hot Shots Golf and some of the best Download only games in the meantime :rolleyes:

Little Big Planet is coming very soon too :p

I own both by the way, just currently have more love for my black shiny box than the white ***** that I had to self repair for RROD a month ago :(

To the poster, you should take the Elite back and ask for a console that you don't have to live in fear with every time it has a little spat. We have now got to a stage with my six 360 owning buddies were we have all suffered RROD at least once and two of us have had DVD drive issues (one in the 12 months, one just out). MS build quality is so poor that I would hate to be relying on mine, especially if I didn't have the skills to do some repairs myself.
