I AM A PC BUILDING NOOB
BUT I'm contemplating building my new pc myself but have reservations !
The most Ive done before is install new psu, Graphics card, ram, and dvd drive should I go for it or not ? My main concern I think ? would be installing operating system and configuring raid. Anyone offer any useful advice ?

:) thanks for the speedy and positive replies it does inspire me to go for it :) I do have this my old pc to use to ask questions so i suppose your all right I should just go for it and get my dream spec for less money eh :)

NOW then just gotta decide to go nvidia or ati graphics hmmmmmmmmm

I'm gaining confidence by the minute :) I suppose the thing that scares me most is installing drivers and an operating system from scratch but hey I can read :)

puts you ahead of 95% of the population.

on another note, what sort of budget do you want, as for low low end PC's get them complete as you just cant beet some of these prices. if your looking to go mid to high £800-1200 seams like a good price range.

My budget is 1800 to 2000 and from what ive lokked at so far I reckon I would be saving £200 - £300 by building myself plus I just cant seem to get all the bits I want from one manafacturer

Right decision is made I'm gonna go for it :) thanks :) now just gotta finalise my decision on which way to go with graphics setup hmmmmmmm

Motherboards come with SATA cables and IDE cables for hard drives ect.
Screws come with the case.

Only time you need to by any cables if you go to full tower and the supplied cables may be to short. most mid towers you will be fine.

OK Kool thanks for that - So you reckon if I go far a coolermaster stacker I may need extension cables then ?
Or could go antec 900 hmm ????

Cheers sbd thats very similar to what I had in mind only major difference being I chose evga 780i over the asus p5nt and I couldnt decide to go for the q6600 or the e8400??? PLUS of course I also have a dillema over the 8800gtx's or change the motherboard completely and go 3870x2 aaaaarrrrrrrrr decisions decisions decisions

2 grand is for a tower and monitor. I really dont want to wait as I just keep putting it off and feel I could do that indefinetly. I do like the idea of a 8400 and maybe uograde that in 12-18 months as for graphics I just cant decide to go 8800 or 3870 everything I read seems to be inconclusive about graphics choice at the moment Plus nobody seems to have high hopes for 9800 series do they ?
