Should I buy an i7 6700k?

I have been offered an i7 6700k for 180 plus a msi titanium motherboard for 100 from a friend.

Is this worth it?

Seems it because that together is cheaper than an i7 8700k

I think hes overcharging for that cpu. An 8400 would be better and have warranty for a little more.

No. You could get a used i7 7700k on eBay for that much.

Alternatively a brand new 8600k is £210 now and plenty of Z370 boards for around £100 too. So for maybe £30 more you get brand new parts with warranty. OK it isn't an 8700k but it is still a lot better option than a used 6700k.
