Should I buy an intel core i5 2400 CPU?

I currently have AMD phenom II X6 1090T 3.2Ghz. I'm not sure if I should sell it and buy a intel core i5 2400 CPU. I will also sell my AMD motherboard and get an Intel, since they are not compatible.

I use my PC mostly for 3DS Max, Video Editing, Maya, etc. type.

Definitely not. Your 1090T will render faster in Maya/3DS. If you want a boost, overclock the processor you have - 1090Ts can easily hit close to 4ghz.

Doing heavily threaded stuff like that, I would suggest waiting for AMD bulldozer to launch. The new CPUs will be available in an 8 core configuration and be a good deal faster per-core than Phenom II CPUs. So for this kind of work it should be a big boost in performance. The release of these Bulldozer CPUs seems to be some time next month.

As mentioned above, the i5s are nice CPUs, but considering what you are doing and what you have already got then it will only be a sight upgrade, if that (while Bulldozer should be a substantial upgrade).

Also, if you are running a ASUS M5A78L/USB3 motherboard, then this already supports AM3+ CPUs like Bulldozer, so you don't need a new motherboard to make use of the shiny new CPUs. If you sell your 1090T at the same time, then the upgrade won't cost you too much.

Unless you're going to get a 2500k and overclock it would be pointless, you wouldn't even notice the difference, as others have said wait for bulldozer.
