Hello All
I have the chance to buy a Asus 7800GTX 256MB OEM for £220 posted but will i see a good increase in perfomance from my current 7800GT?
What i was thinking was i could buy it, clock it, test it and if it the increase in performance wasnt great then just sell it for what it owes me.

What do you guys think?

Thanks, Sam

not really.. you would see a performance boost, but not that much. id keep your GT and upgrade begining of next year to DX10.

Well it would only cost me £10 tp upgrade as someone has already offered me £210 for my GT :D

I HIGHLY reccomend getting the X1800 XT 256MB from ocuk for £234, i really cannot reccomend it enough. Mine is outperforming many X1800 XT 512MB's and it truely is a bargain.

Image quality is better than Nvidia, and the X1800 XT beats the Nvidia card by a fair bit too :D

i had a gtx sold it for a x1800xt and never looked back. wipes the floor with the gtx all day everyday. but your choice at the end of the day.
After reading that i have just had an idea.
I am still going to get this GTX as i wont loose any money on it if i sell it straight away and i think it will be intresting to clock etc.
If i am not happy with the performance i am going to get a X1800XT 512mb and flash it etc and see what results i get :D

Well for the price you certainly arn't going to lose anything!

Of course I have to reccomend the X1800XT as it is a stonker of a card (I have the 512mb version)

Thats providing you can sell it again for the same price ;) I just think it sounds stupid, I'd go straight to the xt! obviously you'll be happy with the GTX performance as it IS faster than your GT but the XT is even faster than the GTX! Just go straight to the XT or just screw it and buy a 1900xt lol!

AGREED, The X1800XT is the faster card. So if you are going to upgrade it would be the better choice, considering similar price.
